We want to drastically reduce the need for single-use packaging, and this shapes our four guiding values
Turn-off-the-tap solutions
We believe solutions to waste must not 'turn on another tap' by creating another footprint. We use ocean or textile waste in place of virgin material, wherever possible, when making our reusables.
Behavioural Change
A lot of the world's waste problems are the result of entrenched poor behaviour and bad habits. We believe this is an opportunity and we want to spark better ways of shopping.
Improvement en masse
We believe many people making moderate improvements is much better than an outstanding few. We aim to empower everyone with the tools to make realistic and sustainable change.
Shared Responsibility
The 'blame game' stifles meaningful change. For sustainable improvement we all must hold ourselves responsible - organisations and consumers alike.
Our History
BYOP was built off the back of our founder's own experience with reusable packaging.
Amanda has been bringing her own reusable packaging to her local butcher, baker and grocery retailer for almost 10 years and in the process has saved almost 5000 butcher bags, 2000 plastic bread bags and almost double both those figures on produce bags.
As a mum of three, she has built an understanding of practical reuse that can be easily integrated into a modern busy lifestyle and scaled across more than just one product in an average grocery shop and wants to share this with the world.

In 2023 Amanda put the BYOP idea through its paces when she participated in the the University of Wollongong's iaccelerate program - an incubator program designed to help bring fledgling organisations to life.
This helped shape and refine the framework and structure of the business idea around real customers and a real competitive landscape - readying it for real-world application and real-world investment.
